Scrumhalf Faf de Klerk has openly taunted Sale Sharks teammate Tom Curry about the Boks’ World Cup final win over England.

The Sale Sharks duo were on opposite sides during the World Cup final when South Africa thrashed England 32-12 to win rugby’s most prized accolade.

De Klerk had only recently returned to the club’s base in Manchester following the Boks’ extended victory celebrations, but he is already teasing Curry about England’s failure.

In a candid interview with The Times, Curry revealed that while he tries to forget the final, De Klerk is doing the exact opposite.

When asked to elaborate, Curry explained that while sitting down for a team meeting on Tuesday, he felt something being draped over his shoulder and upon inspection he saw that it was De Klerk’s World Cup winners’ medal.

‘I don’t think he even said, “Hi”, he just put it there,’ Curry told The Times.

Commenting on his act, De Klerk joked: ‘I just wanted to show my medal to Tom.’

When probed for details about the heated incident in the final when they grabbed each other’s jerseys, Curry replied: ‘We just smiled at each other, didn’t we?’

‘Yeah, it was nice to see him,’ De Klerk responded.
