Junior Boks coach Chean Roux has named an experienced lineup for their warm-up game against Scotland in Edinburgh on Friday.
All six players who were members of the 2017 U20 Championship squad are in the starting line-up, while there are a further four players who played in the second warm-up against Georgia in Stellenbosch.
Fullback Gianni Lombard, outside centre Wandisile Simelane, scrumhalf Rewan Kruger, flank Muller Uys, captain Salmaan Moerat and hooker Daniel Jooste all played at last year’s tournament.
‘Scotland will enter the match as a settled unit with a full U20 Six Nations campaign behind them, so we are expecting a solid test, but that is exactly what we want as a team,’ said Roux.
‘They generally try to gain ascendancy with their forwards, so the set pieces will be important, but they also have good attacking backs, so we need to deliver a solid performance all around.
‘That said, our focus is on what we would like to do as a team, and in order to achieve that we have to be effective at implementing our systems for the full 80 minutes. Every match on this tour is significant with an eye on the World Rugby U20 Championship.’
