Former Springbok coaches Nick Mallett, Heyneke Meyer and Andre Markgraaff will reportedly not attend next week's SA Rugby coaching indaba in Cape Town.
All six Super Rugby franchises have been invited to attend the two-day event in conjunction with Springbok coaching staff, members of the rugby department, and former Bok coaches and players.
However, Netwerk24 reports that Meyer was not invited, while Mallett and Markgraaff turned down invitations.
'Coaching is at the bottom of the list of concerning things that need attention. There are fundamental flaws in the structure and if you don’t tackle them, then you just paper over the cracks,' Markgraaff told Netwerk24.
'South African rugby needs to undergo a metamorphosis, not a bunch of coaches sitting around a table exchanging ideas.'
Former Springbok centre Brendan Venter will be facilitating the indaba which plans to enforce long-term and short-term interventions to ensure that systems are put in place to aid the success of Springbok rugby.
