Paarl Boys’ High are reportedly leading the race to appoint Brent Janse van Rensburg as head coach.
It was confirmed last week that Janse van Rensburg vacated his position as Pumas head coach with immediate effect to pursue other opportunities.
According to a report, the 38-year-old’s services are in high demand, with both the EP Elephants and Boishaai tabling lucrative offers to capture his signature.
It is, however, believed that the prestigious school are favourites to land their man because they are offering Janse van Rensburg double what he would earn at EP.
The union – despite recently fulfilling all the criteria required to complete its transition out of administration – is not currently in a position to submit a counter-offer to match that of Boishaai.
EP wanted to appoint him as general manager before the team kicks off their Currie Cup First Division campaign on 25 August; while Paarl Boys’ want Janse van Rensburg to replace outgoing coach Sean Erasmus.
Other contenders for the managerial position at EP include former Springbok Thando Manana, ex-Namibia boss John Williams, former referee Philip Bosch and NMU team manager Bernard Petersen.
