England centre Ben Te’o has been ruled out of their Six Nations opener against Ireland in Dublin on Saturday with a side strain.
The Worcester Warriors centre was expected to start against the Irish, but suffered a strain during England’s training camp in Portugal, leaving coach Eddie Jones with a potential reshuffle.
Manu Tuilagi could now be set for his first England start since 2013, depending if Jones decides to keep Owen Farrell at flyhalf or shift him to the No 12 jersey.
Flank Brad Shields and wing Joe Cokanasiga have also both been ruled out of the fixture with niggles, while forwards Dan Cole, Jack Singleton, Ben Moon and Ben Earl and backs Jonathan Joseph, Ollie Devoto and Ollie Thorley have been released from the squad.
