Manu Tuilagi has suffered a fresh injury setback that has forced him to withdraw from the England squad that will play Tests against USA and Canada next month.
He suffered a hamstring injury during Sale’s Premiership semi-final defeat by Exeter on Saturday.
After being assessed by his club’s medics, the 30-year-old had to withdraw from the England squad before Sunday’s fixture with Scotland A in Leicester and their Tests against the USA and Canada at Twickenham in July.
Northampton’s Fraser Dingwall has been called up in his place.
Before this latest in a string of injury setbacks for Tuilagi, he had been named as the most experienced member of an updated 36-man group.
