England coaches banned

Andy Farrell and Graham Rowntree have been barred from the England change-room for Saturday's Test against Uruguay in Manchester.

The sanction comes after the duo were found to have breached the match officials protocol which prohibits unauthorised contact between coaches and team members with match officials on game day, in order to protect the integrity of the game.

The incidents happened during England’s 33-13 defeat to the Wallabies at Twickenham last Saturday and include pre-match and half-time periods, which is when contact between Farrell, Rowntree and the assistant referees occurred.

Following submission of the usual post-match report, which identified the incidents, relevant charges were brought against the two, who promptly admitted guilt.

Having considered all the evidence, Farrell and Rowntree were, in addition to their change-room sanction, also banned from the tunnel area and given official warnings by World Rugby.
