Injured Springbok wing Aphiwe Dyantyi is back in training with the Golden Lions, but is only expected to be fit in three weeks’ time. MARIETTE ADAMS reports.
Dyantyi is in a race against time to be fit for the World Cup after sustaining a hamstring strain during a Bok training session on 12 July.
He has since missed South Africa’s title-winning Rugby Championship campaign as well as the first half of the Lions’ Currie Cup campaign.
A Lions spokesperson told SARugbymag.co.za on Wednesday that Dyantyi has returned to training, but will only be able to participate in full-contact exercises within the next two weeks.
Should Dyantyi regain full fitness within the expected timeframe, the Lions will use him according to the wishes of Springbok management.
‘He might be available for us in three weeks if that is what the Springboks want him to do,’ the spokesperson said.
