Pieter-Steph du Toit will make his return from a knee injury when the Sharks play the Golden Lions in a friendly in Pietermaritzburg on Friday.
The Bok lock recently announced that he would be leaving the Sharks at the end of the year. He is expected to sign with the Stormers.
How Du Toit does against the Lions could determine whether he gets any game time for the Boks against Argentina in Durban next Saturday.
'Pieter-Steph is playing this weekend,' said Sharks director of rugby Gary Gold. 'I have absolutely no idea how many games he is going to play. I don’t know what Saru's plan is, but our plan is that he’s contracted to us at the moment and we’re going to play him this weekend.
'I’m really excited to have him back and I’m going to play him as long as he’s with us. He’ll play until he gets called up to the Springboks and anyone who gets left out of the Bok squad will come back to us.'
