Sharks loose-forward duo Jean-Luc and Daniel du Preez will make their move to the Sale Sharks permanent, effective immediately.
The twins were set to move to Manchester, along with older brother Rob who has joined permanently, on a short-term deal and return to Durban for the start of the next Vodacom Super Rugby season.
However, the Sharks confirmed on Wednesday that neither Jean-Luc nor Daniel will be returning next year.
This follows the news that the twins’ father, Robert, will not be in charge of the team next year after the Sharks announced that they had amicably parted ways with their head coach.
‘Jean-Luc and Daniel were absolute stars in the black-and-white jersey and always showed great professionalism and commitment in every match that they played,’ Sharks CEO Gary Teichmann said.
‘It is important to state that the amicable parting of ways with Robert had absolutely no bearing on this move, which was negotiated before a decision on Robert’s future was taken.
‘We are sad to lose players of their calibre, but they go with our blessings. They will be sorely missed.’
