Robert du Preez has replaced Kurt Coleman at flyhalf for Western Province's Currie Cup clash against the Sharks in Durban on Saturday.
Coleman was originally named in the starting lineup, but suffered a calf strain in training on Thursday.
'We were initially not too concerned, but his calf has not reacted well overnight,' confirmed coach John Dobson.
Du Preez has made two appearances off the bench for WP, but will earn his first start in the competition. Demetri Catrakilis comes on to the bench to complete the match 22.
'This is a great opportunity for Robert to make his mark at this level. Demetri has been very understanding of our plans to bring Robert through and we're certainly very fortunate to have someone of his calibre to call upon from the bench,' added Dobson.
