The Blitzboks will be without star players Werner Kok and Cecil Afrika for this weekend's Cape Town Sevens.
Kok, the current World Rugby Sevens Player of the Year, and Afrika, a previous winner of the award, will miss the second leg of this season's Sevens Series as the result of a knee and hamstring injury respectively.
Kok is expected to have to undergo a knee operation and is likely to be out for an extended period, while Afrika should be available for the first tournament of 2016 in New Zealand on the weekend of 30-31 January.
Rosco Speckman and Dylan Sage, who were called up to provide injury cover earlier in the week, are now set to be included in the final 12-man squad that will be announced in Cape Town on Thursday.
