Western Province coach John Dobson says he has not yet heard anything on Siya Kolisi’s injury situation after it was mentioned that the Springbok captain may make his comeback in the Currie Cup. DYLAN JACK reports.
Kolisi has been out since May after suffering a knee injury during the Stormers’ Vodacom Super Rugby campaign.
While Kolisi was included in the Springbok training group that has assembled for a camp in Pretoria in preparation for the Rugby Championship, he is still expected to sit out the opening two matches against the Wallabies and All Blacks.
Further, Bok coach Rassie Erasmus told the media last week that the plan was to ease Kolisi back into action through allowing him to play for Western Province in their Currie Cup campaign, which kicks off this weekend against the Blue Bulls at Newlands.

Speaking to the media on Monday, Dobson said it is still not clear when Kolisi will link up with the Province squad after the flank underwent scans on Friday.
‘We haven’t got the results yet,’ Dobson said before adding that he would welcome Kolisi back, especially with the injury issues the team has in the loose-forward department.
‘We are worried about Sikhumbuzo Notshe as well as Cobus Wiese, Johan du Toit and Kobus van Dyk. Those are four loose forwards, so it will test us a bit. With all those injuries at loose forward, it will be nice to have Siya back. He always gives 100% anyway.’
