EP Elephants coach Peter de Villiers has given an update on his health after he and 11 of the union’s players tested positive for Covid-19.
In a letter addressed to the Eastern Province Rugby Union executive committee as the presidents of all EPRU clubs and EPRU staff – which was published on the team’s social-media platforms – president Andre Rademan on Tuesday confirmed that De Villiers and 11 EP Elephants players tested positive for coronavirus.

EP, who faced the Cheetahs in a friendly this past weekend, were set to face Griquas in a warm-up game this Saturday, but the match has subsequently been called off.
Posting on social media on Wednesday evening, De Villiers thanked those who had wished him well.
‘Thanks to everyone that has sent me a message to me via phone or my social media accounts about contracting Covid-19,’ De Villiers wrote.
‘It’s hit me pretty hard and I am not feeling great but as I always say … even the bad times are good.
‘I’m a fighter and will overcome!’
