The Blitzboks have called up Dewald Human as a replacement for Selvyn Davids, who has withdrawn from the squad for the Paris Sevens due to personal reasons.
Human answered coach Neil Powell’s SOS and flew from Cape Town International Airport late on Monday evening.
The 24-year-old Human, along with injury-reinforcements Cecil Afrika and Mfundo Ndhlovu, will arrive in Paris on Tuesday, and will immediately link up with the squad in preparation for the last tournament of the season.
Human, who last played for the Blitzboks at the Sydney Sevens in February, says he is ready to contribute in Paris.
‘I’m expecting coach Neil [Powell] to tell us to go out and enjoy ourselves. We have done the hard work. I have not played with the squad in a tournament in a while, so will need to fit in quickly, but I am keen to bring the vibe into the team,’ he said.
‘We did not have our best tournament in London, but everybody will be keen to turn things around and make the country proud again. Hopefully I can contribute again and help keep up the standards we created over the last couple of seasons.’
