James Dalton will appear in court in Cape Town on Monday for assault, intimidation and resisting arrest.
Sergeant Noloyiso Rwexana, provincial police spokesman, confirmed the former Springbok hooker was arrested over the weekend, but said she could not give further information on the 'merits of the case or who the victims or complainants are' because Dalton still has to appear in court.
According to Rapport newspaper, the 44-year-old got into a fight with police officers at the scene of a road accident, involving his girlfriend's BMW, at around 8pm.
Dalton allegedly got angry, pointed his finger at the policeman and shouted that he was a 'f ***g racist'.
