Another three-time Lions tourist, Lawrence Dallaglio, has picked seven England players in his prospective British & Irish Lions starting lineup for their tour of South Africa.
Dallaglio is a former England captain who made 85 Test appearances for his country between 1995 and 2007. He was also part of the British & Irish Lions touring squads of 1997, 2001 and 2005, but won just three Test caps for the elite composite team.
Following the completion of the fifth and final round of Six Nations fixtures this past weekend, Dallaglio has revealed his preferred Lions lineup for their highly anticipated eight-match tour of South Africa, including three Tests against the Springboks.
To go with his selection of seven English players, Dallaglio has picked five Irishmen, just two players from the Wales squad and one from Scotland.
Dallaglio’s team selection is in stark contrast to former England teammate Will Greenwood’s side, which boosts just one English player.
Dallaglio’s Lions XV – 15 Stuart Hogg, 14 Anthony Watson, 13 Garry Ringrose, 12 Owen Farrell, 11 Jonny May, 10 Johnny Sexton, 9 Conor Murray, 8 Toby Faletau, 7 Tom Curry, 6 Tadhg Beirne, 5 Alun Wyn Jones, 4 Maro Itoje, 3 Tadhg Furlong, 2 Jamie George, 1 Mako Vunipola.
