Currie Cup Qualifier preview (Round 7)

The Pumas and Western Province will clash in what should be an intriguing battle in the seventh round of the Currie Cup qualifiers this weekend, writes CRAIG LEWIS.

The Pumas currently occupy third spot on the log, just one point ahead of Western Province, although they have played the one extra game.

Western Province are coming off the back of a big win over the EP Kings, while the Pumas overcame the Blue Bulls in Pretoria last weekend, and there’s unlikely to be much that separates the sides in Nelspruit on Friday night.

Meanwhile, log-leading and undefeated Griquas will be looking to continue on their merry way when they host the Bulls on Saturday, while second-placed Boland should have little trouble in overcoming the Valke.

In other clashes to look out for on Friday, the Free State XV take on the EP Kings, while the Sharks XV will host the Golden Lions XV in Kwa-Mashu.

In the other fixtures this weekend, the Griffons and Border will go head to head in Welkom, while Namibia’s Welwitschias travel to Potchefstroom to play the Leopards.
