Matches between the Free State XV and Sharks XV, and Western Province and the EP Kings should make for interesting viewing in the sixth round of the Currie Cup qualifiers, writes CRAIG LEWIS.
Free State surprised with an impressive win over the Golden Lions XV last weekend, while the Sharks shocked previously undefeated Western Province. The EP Kings also secured an upset when they stunned the Blue Bulls 19-14.
Such results add to the intrigue of this weekend’s match-ups, with the third-placed Pumas set to kick off proceedings against the Bulls, while the SWD Eagles and Valke will also be in action on Friday along with Border and the Leopards.
The Sharks will then look to continue their revival against the Cheetahs on Saturday, with Western Province aiming to return to winning ways as they host the Kings.
Log-leading and undefeated Griquas should have no trouble overcoming Namibia’s Welwitschias, although second-placed Boland could have a battle on their hands when they host the dangerous Griffons.
