The Crusaders were the more accurate and disciplined side during the second half of the match at Eden Park, according to SARugbymag.co.za's Opta-powered stats.

The Blues played well in the first half of this New Zealand derby, and went to the break with a deserved 15-10 lead. The hosts' defence was on top at that stage, having forced a total of six turnovers. Flanker Kara Pryor made 12 tackles and one turnover during the first stanza.

As the game progressed, however, the Crusaders began to improve in terms of discipline and accuracy. The visitors conceded just four penalties in the second stanza, and their defence forced six turnovers during this period.

The Blues' effort in the second half didn't match that of the first. The hosts' defence made four turnovers, and conceded nine penalties.

The Blues' tactics in the second half should also be questioned. They prospered in the first stanza when they played for territory and used their defence as a weapon (they had 38% of the possession). They were less successful in the second half when they kept the ball in hand and made just nine kicks in the field of play.
