The man who has alleged that three Crusaders players intimidated him at McDonald’s in Cape Town says he is still awaiting CCTV footage of the incident.

A South African Twitter user claimed that prominent Crusaders and All Blacks players were hurling homophobic slurs at him and his friend at a McDonald’s in a prominent entertainment district in Cape Town following their draw with the Stormers last weekend.

The man, identifying himself as Alexandros Paterimos, posted an update of the situation on Instagram while he is  attempting to get official footage of what happened.

‘We are still working on getting the CCTV footage,’ the post read. ‘McDonald’s is refusing to give us the footage without an officer present, and unfortunately our law enforcement system is VERY SLOW at the moment.’

The Crusaders have also contacted the McDonald’s branch and requested the footage, and haven’t received a response.

Paterimos, who is yet to comment in the media, stood by his claims in an earlier post.

‘If you think we’re doing this for attention, think again,’ Paterimos wrote. ‘Why would we want a bunch of homophobic rugby supporters’ attention?’

The Crusaders and NZ Rugby are both investigating the alleged misconduct by their players, with flyhalf Richie Mo’unga also allegedly involved in a separate incident before the match.

Both George Bridge, who was identified by coach Scott Robertson as one of the three involved, and Mo’unga will start for the Crusaders this weekend.
