Montpellier president Mohed Altrad has confirmed All Blacks flyhalf Aaron Cruden will join the club on a two-year contract next season.

Although Altrad didn’t give any details of the deal, French newspaper Midi Olympique, reports Cruden agreed to a two-year contract with the option of a third at €800,000 per season.

Cruden will likely join Montpellier after the Super Rugby tournament, where he will replace Demetri Catrakilis, who is moving to English Premiership side Harlequins at the end of the season.

The 28-year-old playmaker has won 47 Test caps since making his international debut in 2010 and is the fourth highest point-scorer in All Black history with 322 points.

Montpellier, under the guidance of outgoing coach Jake White, are currently third in the Top 14 standings. New Zealand-born Vern Cotter will replace White as Montpellier head coach next season.
