Agustín Creevy has received a one-week ban for a dangerous tackle on Jean Deysel in Buenos Aires on Saturday.
The incident occurred half an hour into the Jaguares' 25-22 loss, with the Jaguares captain tackling the Sharks flanker around the shoulders. Deysel's forward momentum coupled with Creevy's desperate defence caused Deysel to land in an awkward position on his head, injuring his neck in the process. Deysel had to be stretchered off the field.
Creevy pled guilty before Sanzaar judicial officer Robert Stelzner, who also took into consideration Creevy's clean disciplinary record in adjudicating the matter. Stelzner ruled that Creevy had no intent to harm Deysel. These combined factors resulted in a 50% reduction of the recommended minimum sentence.
Creevy is suspended up to and including 22 May, and will not be available for the Jaguares' match against the Lions in Johannesburg on Saturday.
