Flyhalf Lionel April was named the U18 Craven Week Hero of the Day after scoring a try in Boland’s 19-17 win against the Blue Bulls.
The Hero of the Day award is based on a standout moment of the day and is not necessarily given to the best player in any of the matches.

Just two minutes into the match, with Boland on the back foot inside their own 22, April read a Bulls attack perfectly to intercept a pass and run 80 metres to score his side’s first try and set them on their way to a memorable victory.
‘It is a surprise for me,’ April said after receiving the award. ‘There are some good players on our team so I did not expect to be the Hero of the Day, without my teammates I couldn’t have done this.
‘I looked at the defence and saw they had an overlap on the one side. So then I ran into the space where I thought the ball was going to go,’ April said about his try.
‘Lionel definitely deserves Hero of the Day,’ former Bok wing Akona Ndungane said. ‘Listening to him talking after the game saying that the Bulls had an overlap and the only way to counter that was to either make a hit or go for the intercept shows the vision of the young boy.’
