SWD wing Caston Michaels was named U18 Craven Week Hero of the Day after his side stunned the Sharks 39-31.
SWD were cruising 33-5 after the first half, courtesy of four tries. The Sharks mounted a valiant comeback after the break, but two penalties secured a memorable triumph for SWD.
Michaels created SWD’s third try after a dazzling run was cut short metres away from the tryline with a dangerous tackle. He still managed to place the ball back and his teammate Abre Minnie scooped up possession at the base of the ruck and dove over for a try.
Michaels would eventually get a try of his own after another searing run down the left flank followed by a perfectly executed chip and chase.
Well done to Casten Michaels from the @SWDEagles U18 SA Rugby Craven Week team for winning the @EnergadeSA Player of the Day award! @Springboks pic.twitter.com/uYDGenVY4u
