Captain Siya Kolisi has been ruled out of Western Province’s upcoming match against the Cheetahs this weekend after coming into contact with a person who tested positive for Covid-19.
Kolisi was a late withdrawal from the WP team that claimed a 34-17 bonus-point win over Griquas at Newlands on Saturday with coach John Dobson confirming the captain’s absence was as a result of a ‘contact’ situation.
‘We found out late on Friday,’ Dobson said at the time of the withdrawal. ‘He [Kolisi] has to isolate for 10 days, so he won’t be available for next week [against the Cheetahs].’
It has since been confirmed the source of the contact was Kolisi’s wife Rachel – who took to social media to confirm that she has tested positive for the virus.
