Bok coach Allister Coetzee has sent a secret request to SA Rugby asking for reinforcements in his assistant-coaching ranks.
Coetzee was appointed Springbok head coach earlier this year, but the national side is on a downward spiral after losing four of their seven Tests so far in 2016.
According to Rapport, Coetzee directed an urgent plea to his bosses requesting clearance to make use of temporary coaching specialists to assist him during the Boks’ two Rugby Championship matches against the Wallabies and the All Blacks in the next fortnight.
It is widely known that Coetzee didn’t have the final say in the appointment of his management team, which is why his latest cry for help is being treated as highly confidential because it can reflect negatively on his current assistant coaches.
SA Rugby’s internal process when selecting Coetzee’s coaching staff and in particular the appointment of backline coach Mzwandile Stick, has come under scrutiny from former players like Corné Krige and Brendan Venter.
It is not yet known if Coetzee has identified the people he wants to involve to aid the Boks’ cause.
