Coenie Oosthuizen has been ruled out of the Rugby Championship after undergoing neck surgery last week.
The prop has been struggling with a disc protruding on his neck and pressing on the nerve for the past few weeks and Bok team doctor Craig Roberts confirmed there was no choice but for Oosthuizen to go under the knife.
'We were hoping it would respond spontaneously as they sometimes do. It didn’t and we had to make the decision to have surgery. He will definitely be out for the Rugby Championship. The time frames are tight for the World Cup but there's a possibility he will be ready,' said Roberts.
