The Blitzboks claimed a comprehensive 28-0 win over Canada on Friday to end day one of the Dubai Sevens unbeaten.
South Africa had earlier claimed wins over Uganda (19-10) and Kenya (48-5), while Canada had slumped to a 29-15 defeat against Kenya and battled to an unimpressive 22-17 win over Uganda.
The Blitzboks seized control of the match from the outset.
After a tremendously patient, sustained build-up, South Africa created a three-on-one overlap out wide and Branco du Preez ran in for an easy self-converted try.
Kwagga Smith was at his physical best as he went on a searing run to set up the Blitzboks’ second try, scored by Cecil Afrika for a handy 14-0 lead at half-time.
It was more of the same in the second half as South Africa scored twice and defended mercilessly.
Smith showed a clean pair of heels as he scuttled in for the third converted try before Werner Kok finished the game off in style.
The Blitzboks will now face Samoa in the Cup quarter-finals on Saturday.
