Clermont wing Alivereti Raka scored a hat-trick as Saracens suffered a 46-14 defeat in their rearranged European Champions Cup match at Allianz Park.
The rematch of last season’s final had been postponed on Sunday morning due to bad weather. Clermont were upset when they were only told on Sunday night that the game would be played at 17:30 on Monday, and took their frustrations out on the defending champions.
Raka’s hat-trick gave Clermont a 21-0 lead after just 24 minutes and the wing had a hand in ex-Bok Flip van der Merwe’s second half try to kill the game off after Saracens hit back with a penalty try,
Clermont are top of Pool 3, four points ahead of Saracens, who have now lost six consecutive matches.
