The Cheetahs’ star eighthman, Jasper Wiese, has been handed a four-week suspension for dangerous play in their last PRO14 match against Ulster in Belfast.
A disciplinary committee met on Wednesday to consider the citing complaint against Wiese for a dangerous cleanout on Ulster’s Jordi Murphy at a ruck. Wiese escaped sanction at the time, as referee Mike Adamson opted against handing him a yellow card.
The committee found Wiese guilty and imposed a four-week ban on the player, resulting in him missing the Cheetahs’ next four matches against the Dragons (away), Leinster (home), Edinburgh (home) and the Ospreys (home).
The 24-year-old comes into contention for selection for the Cheetahs’ game against the Warriors in Glasgow on 15 April.
This is Wiese’s second suspension this season, having also served a three-week ban for a similar offence in November last year.
