Cheetahs loose-forward Oupa Mohoje faces another lengthy spell on the sidelines due to a recurring knee injury.
Mohoje has not played a single minute since September 2018, when he sustained a serious knee injury against Munster in the first round of the PRO14.
Now 16 months later, Mohoje had finally started to train with the team and looked set to make a comeback. But he was set back earlier in the week when he felt discomfort in the knee.
The 29-year-old was sent for a scan on Wednesday to determine the severity of the injury, but he says he hopes he does not have to undergo more surgery.
‘After one of our training sessions, I felt discomfort in my right knee and there was some swelling,’ Mohoje told Netwerk24.
‘Hopefully an operation won’t be necessary,’ he added.
The Cheetahs’ next match is a derby against the Kings in Port Elizabeth on 25 January.
