The Free State Cheetahs ran in four tries to defeat the EP Kings 28-12 in their final warm-up match in Cradock on Friday.
The Kings fielded a different combination to the one that demolished SWD a fortnight ago, with coach Carlos Spencer still looking to finalise his best team ahead of the Currie Cup. The changes clearly had an impact on his side's rhythm, as they went into the half-time break 7-5 down.
Things opened up a bit in the second half, with Siviwe 'Shakes' Soyizwapi grabbing his second try of the match before two late Cheetahs tries ended the Kings' hopes of a comeback.
FS Cheetahs – Tries: Francois Venter (2), Torsten van Jaarsveld, AJ le Roux. Conversions: Willie du Plessis, Elgar Watts (3).
EP Kings – Tries: Shakes Soyizwapi (2), Conversion: Ntabeni Dukisa.
