Cheetahs managing director Harold Verster has expressed his shock after former captain and coach Naka Drotské was shot in a home invasion on Thursday night.
Drotské and ex-Bok teammate Os du Randt were at the house of Drotské’s brother, Tinus, in Kameeldrift, when five armed robbers stormed in and began shooting.
Drotské was reportedly shot three times while trying to protect his family, in the arm and chest.
He is in a stable condition in the intensive care unit at Montana Hospital, while Du Randt is recovering from shock.

‘The news was absolutely shocking,’ Verster told OFM. ‘This morning we got together as Cheetahs family and we had the team together and said that we were thinking about Naka and Os and their families. We wish them all the best and our thoughts are with them.’
Verster was also able to shed more light on what happened on Thursday, but complete details are still sketchy.
‘What I do know is that numerous robbers entered the house while they were busy eating and sprayed them with pepper spray.
‘A fight ensued and it went out on to the veranda or lawn, and when one of them drew a firearm to fend them off, Naka was shot. After that, they ran away.’
