The Cheetahs have reportedly made an attractive offer to secure the services of departing Lions lock Marvin Orie.
Orie joined the Lions from the Vodacom Bulls in 2017, but it was recently confirmed that the Springbok lock would not sign a contract extension with the Lions following failed negotiations between the parties.
At the time of confirmation, the Lions said the union has ‘no information as to his plans going forward’. But now, according to Netwerk24, the Cheetahs have made Orie a number one recruitment target after losing several second rowers – Reniel Hugo, Walt Steenkamp, Sintu Manjezi, JP du Preez and Ian Groenewald – over the past year.
However, report also suggests that Western Province are also showing a keen interest in Orie, but that the player is seriously considering joining the Cheetahs courtesy of the good offer they had put on the table.
