EP president Cheeky Watson says the Kings' management team will soon be put in place following the resignation of head coach Brent Janse van Rensburg.
SARugbymag.co.za revealed on Wednesday that Janse van Rensburg will be moving on despite being earmarked to coach the franchise in Vodacom Super Rugby next year.
He joined the Kings as their defence coach at the start of 2015 and was promoted to head coach for this year’s Currie Cup, but he is now believed to be in line to take up a coaching role at Boland.
Watson thanked Janse van Rensburg for his contribution to the union, and said the Kings would continue their preparations for Super Rugby.
‘We are in regular discussion with Saru, who have taken over the organisation of the franchise, on the way forward and there is much work being done behind the scenes to ensure the Southern Kings squad is properly prepared for its return to Super Rugby in February. Along with Saru, we are confident of putting a strong management team in place to continue with the preparations for our re-entry to Super Rugby.
‘We would like to thank the contracted players for their commitment to the Southern Kings' cause and Saru for their assistance in the preparations of the franchise,’ he added.
