Crusaders flyhalf Dan Carter has returned to New Zealand for the birth of his second child.

He will therefore miss the match against the Sharks at Kings Park on Saturday.

Carter has been replaced in the Crusaders' travelling squad by 19-year old centre Nathanial Apa.
