Former All Blacks flyhalf Dan Carter will rejoin French Top 14 side Racing 92 until the end of the season as cover for the retired Pat Lambie.
The 36-year-old played for the Parisian side between 2015 and 2018 before moving to the Kobe Steelers in Japan.
However, with Lambie announcing his retirement from all rugby due to issues with concussion, Carter has been granted a temporary release from his Top League contract to once again play for Racing.
The World Cup winner won the Top 14 title with Racing in 2016, and also helped them to two European Champions Cup finals in 2016 and 2018.
This is Carter’s third stint in the French league, having also played for Perpignan in 2009 in a spell that was marred by an ankle injury.
