Dan Carter's manager has hit back after a French report alleged that the All Blacks star tested positive for steroids along with Joe Rokocoko.

According to L'Equipe, the French doping agency conducted routine urine tests after Racing beat Toulon 29-21 at the Camp Nou in Barcelona in June. The results showed anomalies in the samples of the two former All Blacks and Juan Imhoff.

Carter and Rokocoko's manager, Simon Porter, has since refuted the claims, stating the pair had been granted TUEs (therapeutic use exemptions) to use the banned substance as treatment for their respective injuries before the final.

'We have been aware of the issue for a few weeks. The understanding and assurances [from Racing's medical staff] we've had are that all the documents around TUEs were in place,' said Porter.

L'Equipe, however, reports that the players did not have TUEs to explain steroids traces in their systems.

The French Rugby Federation has received the doping agency's report on the three players and now has 40 days to determine whether or not the use of steroids were for medical purposes.
