Schalk Burger will not be available for the Springboks' June Test series against Ireland due to an ankle injury.

The flanker suffered the injury against the Bulls last weekend and played through the pain, but he has now been ruled out of action for a month.

The 33-year-old has played 86 Tests for the Springboks and would have been expected to add valuable experience and leadership to Allister Coetzee's first squad.
