Poor handling and discipline nearly cost the Kings a victory over the Jaguares, according to SARugbymag.co.za's Opta-powered stats.
The Jaguares will lament their poor discipline. They conceded three cards in Port Elizabeth on Friday (two reds and one yellow). You don't often hear of a team reduced to 12 players going on to win the match.
And yet the Jaguares nearly achieved that improbable feat. They were, of course, helped by a Kings side that struggled to control possession.
The hosts turned the ball over on 18 occasions. The Jaguares conceded three cards, but it was the Kings who conceded more penalties over the course of the game (14).
Interestingly, the Jaguares were forced to make just 82 tackles in this match (they missed 13). That stat suggests that the Kings attack didn't put the Jaguares under nearly enough pressure.
