The Bulls conceded too many turnovers on attack in the disappointing loss to the Brumbies in Canberra, according to SARugbymag.co.za's Opta-powered stats.
The Brumbies were not at their best in Friday's contest, but did well enough to win the bulk of the possession (64%). They played a smart territorial game, as their kicks-from-hand stats (32) suggest.
The Bulls didn't help their cause by making some poor decisions and mistakes on attack. In the first half, the visitors made 27 carries and four clean breaks, which isn't bad when one considers they had 30% of the possession. However, after making the initial break, the Bulls would conspire to turn the ball over. They conceded possession eight times in the first half alone.
Overall, the Bulls had 36% of the possession and turned the ball over on 16 occasions. The Brumbies won the contest at the breakdown, making seven turnovers on defence.
The Bulls completed 124 of their 132 tackle attempts. Unfortunately, those few misses allowed the Brumbies to score two tries.
