Springbok wing Ruan Combrinck will make a rugby comeback after officially being announced as a new Bulls signing from 1 July.
Able to play at wing and fullback, Combrinck’s arrival will not only add depth to the youthful outside backs, but his experience since making his professional debut for Western Province in 2010 will be invaluable for the Tshwane side.

The 31-year-old speedster scored two tries in seven Test matches for the Springboks, while also racking up over 150 points while he was with the Lions between 2012 and 2019, helping them into three successive Super Rugby finals.
After leaving the Lions, Combrinck joined Stade Francais, but would make only a handful appearances for the French side, before returning to South Africa and taking a step away from rugby to farm.
“Any team will be fortunate to acquire a gem like Ruan, who has proven his outstanding abilities over the years. His signing will add to the depth of this team, and we have no doubts that his on-field as well as his off-field capabilities will contribute to the Bulls reaching greater heights,” said director of rugby Jake White.
The Bulls have also reportedly shown interest in signing Combrinck’s former Lions teammate Lionel Mapoe, currently playing in the third division of French rugby.
