A player has revealed that the Vodacom Bulls squad were left surprised when they found out about Jake White’s appointment as director of rugby.
After weeks of speculation, the Bulls announced White’s appointment last week and also confirmed that he would take over from Pote Human as head coach next year.
But according to a report on Netwerk24, not everyone within the Bulls playing squad is excited about White’s arrival at Loftus.
‘We heard about the Jake story the weekend before we toured and when we arrived back from Australia, he was appointed,’ a player, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told the website.
‘I think the fact that we’re in self-isolation is making the situation tougher. The biggest surprise is that it was suddenly announced that he’ll be the head coach as well next year. No one saw it coming. I can only think how surprised coach Pote [Human, head coach] and other coaches must be.’
Human will coach the Blue Bulls in the Currie Cup later this season, but his contract runs out at the end of the year.
