The Bulls have not requested £500,000 in compensation from the English RFU for the services of departing head coach John Mitchell.
Mitchell, whose Bulls contract ends in October next year, is set to become England’s new defence coach under Eddie Jones. He will take up his new position next month.
On Sunday, Rapport newspaper claimed that the Bulls had rejected the RFU’s offer of £50,000 (R900,000) in compensation and asked for £500,000 (R9-million) instead.
Compensation in a case like this is usually 10% of the value of the contract.
SARugbymag.co.za understands while the Bulls have asked for more than 10%, the amount is nowhere near £500,000.
The Bulls have already begun the search for a new Super Rugby coach, with former Boks Victor Matfield and Fourie du Preez among the candidates.
Pote Human will coach the Blue Bulls in this year’s Currie Cup.
