Vodacom Bulls chief executive Alfons Meyer has confirmed Jake White will serve as the ‘hands-on head coach’ during the 2021 season. CRAIG LEWIS reports.
On Wednesday, the Bulls announced that White had been appointed as the new director of rugby until 2023, filling the gap vacated by Alan Zondagh, who resigned from the role earlier this year.

The well-travelled former Bok coach has most recently been working with Toyota Verblitz in Japan, but has already begun putting plans in place as the Bulls undergo another restructuring.

On Friday, South Africa entered day one of lockdown as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, and Meyer told SARugbymag.co.za that they were doing all they could to successfully contend with these extraordinary circumstances.
‘Jake is [officially] starting next week, but obviously we can’t physically get together. Nevertheless, we are looking at restructuring the coaching staff and contracting players for the future…
‘Until October, Jake will serve as director of rugby, and then in the new season he will take charge of [Vodacom] Super Rugby and Currie Cup teams as the hands-on head coach.’
Pote Human is currently the head coach of the Bulls, and Meyer confirmed that he remains under contract until October, with any future role and position set to be assessed before then.
