The Vodacom Bulls have reportedly agreed a deal to bring Springbok wing Travis Ismaiel back from English side Harlequins.

Ismaiel played for the Bulls between 2013 and 2018 before leaving to join Harlequins before the 2019-20 Premiership season. Unfortunately, he was only able to make three appearances before the Premiership season was suspended.

According to SuperSport.com, the 27-year-old has put to paper on a two-year deal to return to the Bulls and further bolster director of rugby Jake White’s squad.

Ismaiel played 39 Super Rugby matches in his first stint with the Bulls, scoring 10 tries while he made a further 42 appearances in the Currie Cup, scoring 22 tries.

Internationally, Ismaiel played for the South African A side against the English Saxons in 2018 and went on to make a try-scoring full Springbok debut in the Washington DC Test against Wales.

He will add plenty of experience to the Bulls’ back three following the departure of Springbok fullback Warrick Gelant to Western Province.

The 1,9m wing is the third player to return to Loftus Versfeld from overseas, after prop Marcel van der Merwe and loose forward Arno Botha. The Bulls have also added experienced back Gio Aplon and promising lock Walt Steenkamp to their roster.
