Schalk Brits will play for the Stormers in the 2019 Super Rugby tournament.
The 37-year-old hooker retired earlier this year after nine seasons at English club Saracens, but a shock call-up to the Springbok squad saw him put his post-rugby plans on hold.
Before coming off the bench against England at Newlands in June, to earn his 11th cap, his last Test appearance had been against the USA at the 2015 World Cup.
Brits travelled with the Bok squad during the Rugby Championship despite not being contracted to any club or franchise. He did not get any game time during the tournament.
However, Brits has now revealed that he will play for the Stormers next season in the hope of making South Africa’s World Cup squad later in the year.
‘I’m definitely not here for the money. I want to add value on and off the field,’ he told Netwerk24.com.
‘I want to push hard for a spot in the team and give the coaches a headache about who they are going to pick.’
