Toulon president Mourad Boudjellal has denied any wrongdoing on the part of the club or players with regard to allegations surrounding a criminal investigation.
Prosecutors in Marseille confirmed on Tuesday that an investigation related to pharmacists illegally distributing products was underway after receiving notification from France’s anti-doping authority.
According to French broadcaster RTL, there were suspicions that a pharmacist or pharmacists had been illegally supplying Toulon players with ‘substances related to doping’.
However, Boudjellal held a press conference to rubbish such reports.
‘No [Toulon] player is concerned in this affair, it’s totally unfounded information. This is related to a social security fraud that concerns the pharmacist, not RCT,’ he told the La Provence newspaper.
