Curwin Bosch will start at flyhalf when the Barbarians face Wales in Cardiff on Saturday.
In the backline, Bosch has been named to start along with Springboks Dillyn Leyds and Cornal Hendricks on the wings, while Andre Esterhuizen is at centre.
Up front, former Lions captain Josh Strauss is at No 8, with Marco van Staden on the flank and Vodacom Bulls teammate Wiehahn Herbst at tighthead prop.
Schalk Brits and Jano Vermaak will play off the bench.
Meanwhile, Justin Tipuric will captain the home side, with Scarlets’ Kiwi-born wing Johnny McNicholl making his first appearance for Wales.
The forward pack is made up of eight players who featured in the 2019 World Cup, with Tipuric named in a back row alongside Aaron Shingler and Aaron Wainwright.
